In the end, there is always someone who needs to take responsibility for actualizing an end-product. The less overhead that is built into the system, the more responsibility you, as a client, take for the end-delivery. Some of our clients prefer maintaining control of the entire development process while others prefer to let us handle everything from specifications to delivery.
As a rule of thumb, the more responsibility you want someone else to take instead of you, the higher the pricing will be. A higher price is often a result of increased project management, contingency measures, and quality control.
