October 6, 2021 — Stockholm, Sweden — Impact-driven software development company Beetroot AB has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification following a thorough independent external audit by the accredited certification body Bureau Veritas.

“Certifying Beetroot to the ISO 27001 standard is an important step for us,” said Andreas Flodstrom, Co-Founder and CEO of Beetroot. “It proves our commitment to transparent and sustainable business practices and brings peace of mind to customers, stakeholders, and consultants. I’m proud of our team for investing time and extraordinary effort into achieving this goal together.”

ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard businesses use to set up, maintain, and continually improve their Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). To achieve the standard, a company needs to demonstrate deliberate and mature practices in protecting sensitive data at every level, including people, organizational processes, and tech systems.

The ISO/IEC 27001 certification process for Beetroot involved a rigorous two-stage security audit, including a preliminary review of the organization’s ISMS and an extensive assessment to check the company’s security procedures against the standard’s specifications. Moving forward, Beetroot must regularly pass follow-up audits to confirm compliance with the standard.

“We engaged experienced auditors to make sure that all ISO 27001 requirements were fulfilled and implemented,” commented Yurii Vatsyk, Information Security Coordinator at Beetroot. “We have completed a risk assessment and applied protective measures. Today, we stand strengthened with a comprehensive set of policies and procedures to ensure information security in different areas (including compliance to GDPR). Our ISMS is regularly updated and refined, so our customers can feel at ease working with us.”

The scope of the ISO/IEC 27001 certification for Beetroot includes software development services and providing services for hiring, retaining, and managing dedicated software development and data analysis teams. The company plans to extend the accreditation scope eventually.

“In the digital economy, information security has become a top priority in business. By receiving ISO/IEC 27001 certification, Beetroot has entered a new level of credibility as a service provider,” said Dmytro Barbashov, CTO at Beetroot. “Compliance with this standard enables our prospects to make informed choices about their software development partners and safely entrust their data to Beetroot.”
